And having left from the port, we sailed with the north wind toward the [f. 39v] east-south-east all day and night. This day the latitude was taken at 14 degrees. And the next day, Friday the 2nd, we sailed with the same wind and course. This day we had wind from the north-north-east and sailed on a course toward the east until the next day, Saturday the 3rd, when the latitude was taken at 14 long degrees. And with the same wind and course we sailed until the next day, Sunday the 4th, when the latitude was taken at 14 degrees and three-quarters. And with the same weather we sailed until the next day, Monday the 5th, when the latitude was taken at barely 15 degrees. And with the same weather we sailed along until the next day, Tuesday the 6th, when the latitude was taken at 15 long degrees. And with this same north-east wind, we sailed until the next day, Wednesday the 7th, when the latitude was taken at 15 degrees and one-third. And in the afternoon the wind was east-north-east, and we tacked to another course toward the north-north-west. And on this course we sailed until the next day, the 8th, when at dawn Thursday we tacked to another course, because the wind returned from the north-north-east and we sailed toward the east. And at night there was a light wind from the northeast, and we tacked to another course toward the north-north-west until the next day, Friday the 9th, when we again tacked to another course, because the wind was north-north-east and we sailed toward the east. This day the latitude was taken at 15 degrees. And the next day, Saturday the 10th in the morning, we tacked to another course toward the northwest with the wind north-east until the next day, Sunday the 11th, when the wind was east-north-east and we sailed toward the north. The latitude was taken this day at 14 degrees and three-quarters. And with this weather we sailed [f. 40r] until the next day, Monday the 12th, when the latitude was taken at 14 degrees and one-quarter.
And with this same weather we sailed until the next day, Tuesday the 13th, when the wind returned to the north-east and we sailed on course toward the north-west. The latitude was taken this day at 13 degrees and three-quarters. And in the afternoon we sailed toward the north, because the wind was east-north-east, until the next day, Wednesday the 14th, when the latitude was taken at 13 long degrees. And with the same wind and course we sailed until the next day, Thursday the 15th, when the latitude was taken at 12 degrees and a bit more than one-quarter. And we sailed toward due north until the next day, Friday the 16th, when the latitude was taken at 11 long degrees.
